I am doing the same thing. I have to focus on one thing at a time. Like I pick up my clothes and wash them then move onto the papers and then another thing. That is the only way I can keep from getting overwhelmed. Then when I start to see progress I celebrate my progress. Like when all my clothes are clean. I show off my room and say look at what I have done.

Celebrate the fact that you even started to clean! Celebrate each thing you finish. Every step, no matter how small it seems, is worth celebrating. I have realized recently that music really helps me keep going. It distracts my mind, so I don't think about how much stuff is in front of me, nor how much there is left to still do. It also makes time go by faster. Don't forget to give yourself a treat (something you don't have very often) when you are done for the day. Even if the room isn't finished. You accomplished a lot, you deserve a treat! I applaud you for your accomplishments today! 👏 💕

Take it a little at a time! I started with cleaning one corner. Since then, I've rearranged my room and cleaned my entire floor off. Yesterday I put some clothes away. I'm proud of you for starting, even if you've only done a little bit.
I'm trying to get to this point, my depression has left quit a mess of things and now I freak out trying to get it back in order. But this is def motivation to just start. Thanks. And good luck.

@Kesa thank you, I've made good progress. I worked on one thing at a time and now I have to sort and organize my things. you've got this! Try starting with taking any dishes and cups into the kitchen and/or throwing out trash. even if you start with one small thing, it's still progress!! You'll get there 🤗
Just a few things at a time friend, not all at once.
I'm also in the process of cleaning out my depression piles. Going on a few days now, but I'm making good progress! Breaking things down into sections and playing music to keep the energy up is very helpful. I also has the ADHD so I require a body double to keep on track. These are just the things I do. I wish you luck with your nest progress!

@Doyle 🥰
@Doyle I'm doing the same thing and taking short breaks, I'm feeling really good and productive. Thank you for sharing with me what you do :)
Man I feel that all the way down. Take it slow ❤️
@AzabethSiege thank you! Things are going well, I'm taking small breaks and I'm feeling good about my progress
Good luck! Try to pretend you have blinders on and focus on 1/4 of the room.
@lunamortua Yes, I agree. When I clean and it feels overwhelming I pick one corner and work out from there. Otherwise when you look at the entire room it is overwhelming and I freeze up.
@lunamortua thank you! I'm making progress
