Hi, I’m really hoping someone has gone through something similar or at least has some suggestions for me. Since roughly the middle of last fall, I’ve had pain developed in my wrists, sides of hand leading into thumbs, and some into the top center area of my hands. This has been present for both hands, but I’m going to focus on talking about my left wrist/hand/thumb, because I am in pain there the most often in the most severely. I’ve barely been able to work for several days (this plus other chronic pain) so I went and got a mysofascial release massage. Nothing the masseuse did hurt much (if any) or raised alarm bells at the time, but before I was even 10 minutes away, the side of my left wrist where it connects to the thumb side of my hand was doing new things in and worse pain than usual. Since then, it has felt like something in that area pops in and out of place, and there’s really severe shooting pain whenever it does. Things like holding my phone, typing on my laptop, driving, and even lifting up one of my cats send that level of pain in the same area. About a month ago, my PCP had me go to a hand surgeon and I had x-rays done there. Both my PCP and the hand surgeon Believe me about my pain level and that something is going on, but neither one really knows what’s up. The x-rays didn’t show anything out of the ordinary. In addition to the pain being some of the worst I’ve ever had, this is making it really hard to do my job, which includes mostly typing.

I would get an MRI. Afaik an x-ray isn't really going to show anything there that isn't related to a bone/joint problem. It sounds like it could be de quervain's tendonitis

The only thing I can think of is maybe is a nerve issue somewhere else in your body/a nerve being pinched. I'm so sorry I can't help anymore than that. :( pain is never fun ❤️ praying for relief 🙏
