Looking for Chronic Pain Treatment Advice

What treatments and specialists is everyone seeing? And besides Gabapentin is there a pain medication that has helped anyone? I’m worried that I have gained weight while being on gabapentin.

I found a great pain management Dr in Houston who changed my life 12 yrs ago. I personally take Savella 100mg which is a antidepressant but used a lot for Fibromyalgia. Works on nerve endings like trigger points. However I hear people have issues taking it. It has been great for me. I take 2 muscle relaxers at night. Tizandine. I take a tramadol 300 mg daily. Again helps me. Gabapentin didn’t help me. I try very hard not to over do it but some days you can’t help it. 20 mins at a time then rest. Lots of rest! I have given up a lot but my quality of life is better. I do get injections in my lower back, neck, hips. It seems to be a controversial issue but it works for me. Mine usually last 9 months to a year. I use lidocaine patches too if I plan to be up extra, driving or flying long distance. PT with a good PT is fantastic! There is a EDS pt program out of RI called The Muldroney method which is supposed to help. My neck & back are SO much better since working with my PT! Good Luck, welcome to ask me anything.

I can’t use Lyrica because it gave me nightmares! I dreamed I started a fight in a food court! Crazy. But I am finding out especially the last 4-5 yrs that taking Savella is rare. Most people can’t take it. Which is strange that I can because several meds give me twitching & face droopy on the right side. I am honestly waiting for them to take it from me.

Leviteracetam is another gabepentin alternative. Lidocaine cream or patches may also be helpful to you. I personally like lotus oil and tiger balm
