The Struggle of Chronic Pain

I hate how just because you look like you shouldn't have pain or friends, family, or partner think oh that shouldn't hurt you. pain is subjective and it effects everyone different. same with doctors that don't believe you or maybe they do but won't try anything to help.

Same here. I’m 31 now but it’s still an issue. No one wants to believe I could possibly have the pain I have because they can’t see it. And I was diagnosed with RA at 16, had joint pain way before that. People will say crap to me like “oh just wait until you’re older” as if their typical achy knees or whatever can compare to the shit I’m going through. I wish I had their problem. I wish I could pop an Advil and be go about my day just fine. Meanwhile I sit in silence and deal with pain worse than they can even imagine. Sorry… rant over.

totally feel this. being a very young adult with RA feels like a cruel prank sometimes. cursed to feel like you're ancient and be treated like a child. and of course no one takes your pain seriously if they can't see it.
