Dealing with Chronic Pain in a Physically Demanding Job

hey y'all! I've been recently diagnosed with sacroilitis (the app defaults that to AS) and am curious about your job with chronic pain. Are you able to keep a very physically demanding job? I'm in school to become a wildlife rehabber and have experience at a rehab. it's a lot of walking/hiking, kneeling, crouching, lifting, etc. I've just been so anxious that my pain will get worse and I won't be able to work with animals. I volunteer at a shelter where I train and walk dogs and have had to call out a few times due to my pain. Helping animals is all I've ever wanted to do and I'm so scared that my career will be over before it even begins. I'd love to hear y'all's input!

No I can’t keep up a physically demanding job. I used to have one but I needed to be transferred because it just became too painful. Don’t push past your comfort zone, and you are able to request accommodations under ADA. That really helps!
