Dealing with a Chronic Pain Flare Up

Ugh. I'm in the middle of (what I think is) my first bad flare up. Usually my flare ups happen in my knees and go away with rest, but the past two weeks it has been my ankles/lower legs... I assummed it was an allergic reaction at first, and Urgent Care gave me steroids to treat it, but after the steroids wore off, the flare up came back. Tried getting a rheumatology appointment, and the first available is in October! Both ankles are swollen and covered in painful hive-like bumps. It hurts to walk. I just want to lay in bed and cry. Any treatment suggestions? I've already tried Biofreeze/Bengay, and have popped a couple Tylenol.
