Struggling with Chronic Illness: Should I Apply for Disability?

I’m 28, been working for about 10 years but my chronic illness are kicking my butt and I really don’t know how much longer I can work. I have anxiety, depression, adhd, scoliosis, hypoglycemia, anemia, and just got diagnosed with fibromyalgia and possibly endometriosis. Should I try to apply for disability? Would I even be eligible. My conditions are surely triggered my stress and the stress of having a job really makes my conditions worse. I just wonder what my options are at this point.

You can get a disability attorney without money, they will get paid when you get disability. I highly recommend using one. It is a difficult, long long process. They will guide you every step. Some states are more difficult than others. My attorney filed for me a year ago. No word yet.

There’s so many work at home jobs right now, I’m assuming most of them are going to be office type jobs. You can search for remote jobs on indeed and I’m sure there’s a lot more places if you search “remote jobs” on Google.

If you’re in the US, you definitely qualify with those disabilities. Applying is tough and can take a while, but it’s worth it if it’s something you really want to have in your life

I would say apply if you are sure your doctors will support these claims. Ultimately it’s up to the judge to decide if you’re eligible. I’m currently 35 and in the process of waiting for a decision from disability. I suffer from chronic back pain which causes me to experience pain every day and often have flareups which some days leave me debilitated. I also have scoliosis, anxiety, depression and ADHD which have all kept me from working. I’m often stressed as well so I literally feel your pain! Best of luck if you do decide to apply for disability.

I have thought about working from home but I don’t know how to find a work from home job. What is a good work from home job?

Do you think finding a job where you can work at home would help? I admittedly only identify with a few of your conditions. But I started working from home since 2020 and it’s alleviated a lot of my stress. And I can lay in bed and work on my laptop when I’m having pain days. And nap on my lunch break if I need to.

Disability is so tough. I have all the things you listed and a brain tumor, pots and Cushings. I still got denied. It’s very possible you’ll get denied your first few times. I would get a lawyer and use them
