Chronic Illness and Body Positivity: A New Perspective

I think it’s important to try to unlearn things we internalize growing up about beauty standards, fatphobia, unrealistic media portrayals, etc. of course, I still struggle with gender dysphoria. but I’ve learned more about body neutrality/body positivity. it’s not a linear journey, but I think everyone struggles or has struggled with body image at some point 💕

Don't think it affects me

My body feels like a prison but I'm grateful for what it does for me. 🙃

I used to feel good about myself and I felt sexy but now I just get viewed as childlike and Itd affected how I feel about myself a lot

I view myself as ugly now. I can't do much, so I'm overweight and clumsy. The docs say it's normal to feel this way. The only time I feel better about myself is when I help others

It's helped me be more understanding of those with invisible disabilities.
