Living with Chronic Hip Pain as a Dancer

I’m a dancer with chronic hip pain and injury. Does anyone else understand what I’m going through?

Hi there! I’ve been dancing for 8 or 9 years, and I was recently diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos syndrome (I’m too stretchy and I get hurt and fatigued very easily) so if you need to talk to someone, I’d love to chat. I’m still trying to cope with the fact that such a big part of my life is causing me pain and will eventually need to stop, so in no ways do I have the answers but I can definitely empathize and just listen if you need to rant.

Not a dancer, but I am a former gymnast/runner with FAI (hip impingement), early arthritis, and a labral tear on both hips. I’ve had chronic hip pain for 2+ years and really struggle with the loss of my “athletic” identity/ inability to exercise. I don’t know the specifics of your situation, but, but I may understand and would be happy to chat regardless ❤️
