So I recently discovered I have a chiari malformation. It’s been a lot to process and the neurosurgeon recommended surgery based on my imaging and symptoms. I initially rejected it but I’ve started to reconsider. What are the overall pros and cons for getting a decompression? How does it usually go? What’s it like after surgery? Are there things you can’t do anymore once you’ve gotten it? There’s a lot to think about and so many more questions, I’m getting really overwhelmed with everything, please help me out :’)
