Caretaker of a Stroke Survivor Seeking Support and Advice

Hi everyone! My name is Sara and I’m a caretaker of a stroke survivor. My father survived 2 strokes (2018 and 2020). I’m currently a student at Stanford and am really passionate about improving the lives of stroke survivors, and am pursuing a summer research project about this topic. Really looking forward to meeting you all and learning more about your journeys!

Sorry for the long reply, but have you noticed similar complications such as seizures after surgery?

Stanford has the best doctor (Dr. Steinberg) on the west coast for moyamoya disease and heads a moyamoya clinic that does research. My insurance wouldn't pay for me to go to Stanford. Lucky for me, I got the next best doctor in San Diego and it just so happens to be Dr. Steinberg's son at UCSD. I saw 3 neurosurgeons who refused to perform my cerebral bypass before finding Dr. Steinberg (the younger) at UCSD. My surgery was a success although I have had complications with seizures since 2 months after my surgery.

I have Moyamoya disease and I have had a history of transient ischemic attacks since 2021. I would love to connect and help with the research if you're okay with me helping.
