Can't Sleep, Need Help

I can’t sleep. I just lay there, no anxious thoughts, just waiting to sleep and it doesn’t come. It’s been three nights. I feel recharged in am but I also really feel like I haven’t fallen asleep yet….

I’ve been there. My mom used to tell me growing up that I was asleep for little bits of time or in a light sleep, so even though I perceived I’m not sleeping, I actually was and getting rest. I don’t know how true it is but it’s definitely reassuring to me so I tell myself the same now. I’m still resting, still in bed, still getting some sleep, even on the nights that seem sleepless. I’ve tried melatonin and anti-anxiety meds I have for night too. Also, I found that showering within an hour before bed helps me start to wind down. I also play games like words with friends or logic puzzles on my phone at night in order to keep my mind from racing so I can sleep. Squishmallows and other stuffed animals help me too even though I’m 23!!

What helps me is listening to calming sounds like rain and doing the 4 7 8 breathing method. Also trying aromatherapy by using calming scents like lavender might help

I love water sounds too. I thought about that.

Have you tried "Tart Cherry Juice" or " Melatonin"?

I’ve heard of those. I should!
