Can't Sleep, Mind Won't Stop Racing

it's the middle of the night. i've been overworked and exhausted lately so i'm trying to get some good sleep. i managed to get about four hours, but i woke up a few minutes ago and now my mind won't stop racing. i'm trying to calm myself down but my thoughts are constantly one thing after another, really fast and really loud. i'm physically tired enough to fall back asleep but my head won't let me. is this an anxiety thing? stress? it feels like almost the worst thing to try to do something good for myself and be prevented by my own body.

This definitely sounds like an anxiety thing. Happens to me often from time to time. What has helped me was establishing a bed time wind down routine. Do you have any routine before bed? Mine is brush teeth, wash face, take melatonin, spray lavender pillow/sheet spray, listen to calm podcast until I drift off to sleep. Establishing a routine before sleep will help your brain refocus from the stress of the day on a task that will put it to rest. Going straight from the day to day immediately to bed without a buffer would almost always have me anxious and restless at night when trying to sleep. Also getting new pillows helped me a lot as well. I hope you find proper rest soon 🙏🏾

i think you might be onto something. for one, i do not have a set routine, nor a regular time i'm able to sleep. i'm constantly on high stress through the day and then immediately try to go to bed. i'll definitely consider building in a routine for myself. thank you ♡
