Grounding. I didn’t know what it meant for many years until I tweaked once. I had smoked too much, and I was alone in my room. I had forced myself to ‘ground’ multiple times and it helped immensely with the anxiety!! All I have to do is remind myself, ‘my head isn’t the same as my senses’. And I give them equal attention. So when I realize I indulged in heavy thinking, worry, or whatever, I try to counter it with a little bit, even just a second or two, of feeling my weight, focusing on my surroundings/etc

Hugs and sometimes being by myself long enough for a smoke/lunch break, Stuffed animals, mint gum, and smoking weed are my best coping strategies right now. Welcome to talk if you want to.

Grounding is such a huge thing! I personally love the 5 senses. So 5 things to can see, 4 you can touch, 3 you can hear, 2 you can smell, and 1 you can taste. You can also change up the number and order to fit your preference/environment. It helps pull me out of my head and back into the world. I've also found that if I catch my anxiety early enough, I can find a few songs I really love to help draw me out. My husband has picked up on this and his go to is the Hamilton album because he knows that no matter the mood I can't resist trying to rap along with them just to prove I can do it

My boyfriend's hoodies/shirts help a whole lot! So does a nice cup of tea. If I'm feeling up for it, usually once I get outside and start walking, it helps me feel better.
