Buspirone for Anxiety: Fewer Side Effects?

has anyone tried buspirone? I'm wondering if that would still be effective for anxiety and panic-based symptoms while creating fewer side effects than my current medication.

I started on buspirone and it didn’t work for me, but that doesn’t mean it won’t for you! Buspirone from what I’ve seen (I was in pharmacy school for a while) can be used to help with overall anxiety and lessen the frequency of panic attacks (not stop them once they’ve started), but it isn’t the most widely used because most doctors find it’s not as effective as some others (or at least in my area I haven’t seen it dispensed as much as other meds). When I was on buspirone, all I got was side effects and no results - but it’s different for everyone! Remember that the list of side effects is just a list of things that COULD happen and that there are people who don’t experience them at all. Know that unfortunately with treatments for things like anxiety it’s going to be a bit of trial-and-error until you find a medicine that really works for you, and sometimes these medications can take up to a couple months to really start working. Honestly if the medication you’re currently taking is causing you too much trouble with side effects, then definitely talk to your pharmacist and physician about what those side effects are and what other symptoms you have. They should be able to point you in the direction of which medication will help the most :) I hope this helps!
