Hi! I’m a 20 yr old woman with crohn’s and celiac. Whenever I go on walks (typically outside, but it can happen inside too) i get really horrific burning pain- I’m talking walking down the street to get the mail and breaking out into hives… from just WALKING. I have to run home in pain and pull my pants down to scratch it because it’s burning so bad. It happens in public too and it’s horrible. It’s been happening for years and I’ve seen every kind of skin/autoimmune doctor you can about it and nobody knows what’s wrong. It’s horrible because I’ve been unable to go on walks for years and it makes living so hard. It doesn’t matter what pants I’m wearing (long or short, any fabric), I’ve tried everything!!!! I have a lot of random skin problems (possible psoriasis from crohn’s, I also get severe burning pain on my cheeks and knuckles when my body gets warm) but no doctors have been able to identify what any of them are. Does anyone else deal with this???

Omg that sounds like so much to deal with! If you haven't I would definitely suggest going to a dermatologist or another specialist to see what they can do. Definitely push for more referrals if they can't figure out what to do

Wow that sounds very bothersome, I’m sorry to hear that! I hope the ice pack reliefs some of that pain for you

@smitty my cheeks have been doing this for years, they basically flare up and start burning really bad and they feel hot to the touch. It’s really uncomfortable and painful and I have to have an icepack on me at all times. It only recently started happening on my hand as well. And it’s only one hand, not both. Both usually flare from the heat. The leg thing feels different because it’s really itchy and goes away after like 20 mins. The cheeks and hand last hours/days at a time.

My second thought is allergies. Have you been allergy tested?

@smitty I haven’t, but it happens when I’m wearing shorts too. Like when nothing is touching my legs. Makes me think it’s definitely my skin and not the clothes.

And this is just a guess but it may be eczema or something like it on your cheeks and knuckles that hurt when you sweat?

Have you experimented with your laundry detergent? I have atopic dermatitis (eczema, it comes in flares when triggered) and i switched to free and clear laundry detergent and don’t use dryer sheets.
