just realizing now that the reason i am uncomfortable with wearing short sleeved shirts is because i was bullied in middle school and questioned all the time about the acne and acne scars on my arms

i’m the exact same way! i had (have, but it’s less noticeable) keratosis pilaris on my arms (just the lil bumps) but in elementary school i’d get asked about it so much that i stopped wearing short sleeves; i’m 22 now and i still only feel comfortable wearing long sleeves in public. it’s such a weird mindset because i know exactly what the problem was and that i don’t have it anymore, but i’m conditioned into only feeling safe when my arms are covered. i’m sorry that happened, but you aren’t alone in that feeling
I’m so sorry you were bullied too and it has made wearing short sleeves impossible. It takes time to get comfortable with your body after others have verbally degraded it so much. I used to never wear anything but crew neck tee shirts and shorts that were knee length and always wore my hair in a ponytail. The people in my school picked on the fact that I had larger breasts and hips for my age. It took until college for me to start to see big changes in my body image and wardrobe. It’s a great start that you are recognizing they bullying made you not want to wear short sleeves. Definitely talk with a therapist about it all. I hope this helped
