I am a 62 year old female. In 2019 I was misdiagnosed with COPD. I was told in 2022 that I do not have COPD. This explains why the inhalers didn’t work for me. I recently had a complete robotic hysterectomy. Before my surgery I went through extensive testing. I found out I had congestive heart failure and was treated for it. I have serious breathing problems. I can’t walk any distance without a shopping cart without losing my breath. I can’t walk up a flight of stairs. I can’t carry anything for any distance. Since I do not have COPD I would like to find out what is causing my breathing problems. It can be very scary. I am overweight. I weigh 212 lbs. But, I have been at this weight for a long time. Even before my breathing problems started. I am supposed to schedule a CT scan and see my Pulmonologist for the results. However right now I am not at home. I am out of state at my daughters because she needs my help. I’m not sure when I’ll be going home. I was hoping someone with similar symptoms might have an idea what my problem is and if it’s treatable. Thank you for your time.

There is new understanding of subsets of asthma that cause long term damage and can look like COPD. Have you had a differential white blood cell test? You might have what I do which is called eosinophilic asthma. Eosinophil are white blood cells that are supposed to attack parasites, funguses, and allergen, but can go out of control and attack you instead. They cause swelling, weight gain, heart damage, and chronic shortness of breath. I hope you find relief

My dad had breathing problems with his CHF. That was a big issue for him. COPD and asthma get confused often I hear (I have asthma myself) so maybe that’s it? I hope you get a correct diagnosis soon!

I second 👆🏻 it could definitely be asthma, but it could also be related to CHF. I'd suggest visiting a pulmonologist and a cardiologist. They'll probably want to test your lung capacity and pulse oxygenation level. I've had lifelong asthma and am carrying around extra weight myself. It can definitely be hard. I also noticed I've had issues with my lungs and breathing since having COVID three years ago. Idk if you've been there, but it could be related as well. Sending hugs. 💕
