Are these symptoms related to BPD?

Hey, so I am not diagnosed and I’m not self-diagnosing myself either. But I want to know if any of these symptoms are relevant to people who have BPD. *I am seeing a doctor soon* -excessive money spending, every time I get money I go into debt with my impulses -self-harm, I also once told my boyfriend I was going to block him and kill myself -super hostile anger switches, I can be kinda happy or mediocre then I’ll get super angry over something minor. -dissociation I often feel like I’m inside a tv -scared people are going to do me wrong to where I sabotage. And get scared I will be alone (only sometimes). Lastly super jealous when boyfriend hangs out with family members or anyone !

Hi! I was diagnosed with BPD years ago and will say most of those are symptoms of BPD. But definitely wait until you see what your doctor says. They first diagnosed me bipolar disorder and then finally years later I was diagnosed with BPD.

I have a lot of similarities to bipolar one. But yeah you’re right! I’ve been going crazy taking those screening test and most of them come back high risk. I’m sick of wanting to die and then being fine within minutes. I’m glad you got your proper diagnosis .

i have all of these symptoms very extremely but my doctor refuses to diagnose me with anything beyond anxiety. maybe it is and maybe it isn’t a sign of bpd, buts it’s definitely something i’ve been looking into for a long time! it’s a little comforting to see all the things i think of as my flaws in a list together that someone else suffers from, it shows i’m not alone and neither are you :)

I’ve had that problem too! I also obsess and seek reassurance over my thoughts and my therapist said I don’t have OCD. And it’s pretty obvious I do. As for BPD I could just be very on edge all the time since I haven’t left the house in a year. It would make anyone really angry. But my anger feels more evil at times, and I sabotage a lot. Like if my bf leaves randomly in the middle of the night I’ll throw a major fit and get mad he’s leaning. Then I’ll be like no come back. Lol I hope you get stuff figured out !!

This definitely sounds like what I experience with my BPD, keep in mind I also have bipolar (I suspect it might actually be schizoaffective, but that’s a discussion for another time).

Also would like to add some of these are Bipolar symptoms as well, so get screened for that, but the dissociation is usually more of a BPD symptom which makes me think it’s BPD and not Bipolar, but again get screened for both when you go to the doctor.

@Emily55 I have BPD and bipolar 1. Some of the symptoms you describe sound in line with borderline personality, but others seem like might be associated with schizophrenia. Hope you find some relief soon 🙏

I was also diagnosed with bpd and I fit many of the symptoms. What you explained is alot of what I went through before medication. It is so important to check with your doctor, great job for taking that step.

I do almost all of these things. Definitely check in with your primary doctor that can refer you to a psychiatrist or if you’re already seeing a psychiatrist, tell them about your symptoms
