I only do it because I want to show people I am listening and relating. I suck at social cues so honestly I picked it up and it's the only way I k ow how to converse. I learned people usually want to talk about themselves so instead I find just asking questions makes you more approachable

This is SUCH a big issue with me. For example, I made a mistake with my aunt and she got really mad with me and threatened to kick me out. And I wanted to tell someone how depressed it made me feel but I didn't because I don't want to make this about me. I'm scared they'll just call me selfish just like my dad did.

I didn’t know other people related to this! I constantly feel so selfish and try to shut myself up bc I feel like people see me as self centered even though nobody has ever said that about me
