My psychiatrist thinks I have bpd (haven't got the diagnosis) and I'm really struggling to manage these intense episodes. Anyone got any tips or things that help them regulate without feeling like a complete zombie?

@fightingfrog Yeah it's really trial and error with medications, they work differently for everyone

I recommend looking into Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills. DBT was made specifically to treat BPD, and I personally have found the skills to be the most useful thing in helping me handle my symptoms. I especially recommend the STOP skill for when things get really intense emotionally. The other thing that helped me was getting on a low dose of Abilify (aripiprozol) which is a mood stabilizer/anti-psychotic. That really calmed down the intense emotional reactions for me, but I feel more "normal," not like a zombie or anything.

@LunarMoth had a very very different and negative experience with Abilify I must say, cannot recommend

cymbalta. I feel like a human again after the worst 4 years of my life. I tried everything, MAOI, lamictal, anti depressants, anti anxieties, nothing.. a doctor from when I was in the psych ward put me on cymbalta and I credit that man to saving my life. if I didn’t get on it, I don’t think i’d be here today.
