so my boyfriend thinks I have bi polar, and that I should see someone for my mental health, I have ADHD and medication, I don't think it's bipolar, but boredom from being constantly in side and having no work/life balance that's making me feel this way he thinks when I go out to dinner I want to talk about life situations instead of enjoying my time out. not sure what to do? I just feel like when we do go out he brings up shit that gets my stress going, because of the fact that I am constantly at work and putting myself through nursing school! help me . even if it's just to talk...

It would concern me if my partner was trying to diagnose my mental health and tell me that there is something wrong with me that I don’t know. I understand that it’s coming from a good place but it’s a little concerning!

You should tell him, "I don't want to talk, I just want to enjoy myself. "

@Renall yes ma'am, I have but he doesn't get it.

https://youtu.be/pGUvXPL57as Here's a fantastic video that tells us how ADHD is different from bipolar disorder. Sometimes they can appear to the same to people that aren't educated on the subject.

@NelCat I will have to look into that.

@Boston23 It seems like something maybe your boyfriend should look into as well. It's hurtful when people say things.

Do you see a therapist for any additional ADHD management or just check ins? Bc while I don't think your partner knows what they're talking about here, bc there is a vast difference between lack of work life balance and bipolar symptoms, it could be helpful for what you are describing to see someone. And then you could tell him that in addition to knowing yourself and already telling him you aren't bipolar, you're therapist doesn't think you are either so stop harping on it.

@PlantParenthood oh when I did see my therapist he tried to tell me she didn't work, trust me I did do things about it.

I get that, I know what you mean and its def coming from a good place. I def feel like it's from what I mentioned though, not having a work/ life balance.

It might be because you got Princess Personality like I do. It basically makes me an adult ,but mentally a child. It's been a struggle to not go zero to 90 at people.

@Hannah_6 oh never heard of that, is that an actual thing?

@Boston23 Yes it's when an adult person acts like a child in temperament. My hubby and brother in law both know I have it. I'm prone to crying spells which are why I'm taking weed for my appetite and Zoloft for the mood pill. I have to have someone older than me not younger tell me what to do like with Crew trainer (equal rank in mine). James is older and can help direct me because he's seen me get distracted and he's older. He's a crew trainer that won my respect early. He taught me most of what I know there. Welcome to message me if you have further questions.
