Is my boyfriend lying to me or am I just being overly anxious again?

is my boyfriend lying to me or am i just being overly anxious again? february of this year my boyfriend texted me after hanging out with him that his dad found out about us together (he looked through messages) and his dad was very disappointed, my boyfriend texted me all about it and what happened secretly going on his phone just to tell me about it. he said he doesn't know if he can continue the relationship but he will try his best and that he can't imagine losing me, we ended the conversation with one last "i love you" before blocking each other. (his dad told him that he can't speak to me anymore and that he would beat him if he ever caught him talking to me again.) its been months since the incident and im starting to feel like it was all just one big fake lie just to get rid of me, sometimes i try to cheer myself up by saying he still loves me by rereading old conversations but i can't truly know if im not in his life at the moment. i see him regularly in my classes and i catch him staring at me sometimes but i don't know if im just being delusional or practical, help. much love xxoo
