Has anyone tried Botox for chronic migraines?

Has anyone tried Botox for chronic migraines? What was your experience like? My neurologist is really pushing for it.

I was able to get 3 rounds of it before my insurance decided it wasn't medically necessary (even though it was the only thing that ever helped me) If you get to where you can do it definitely try it!

It has definitely helped the severity and frequency. Make sure you still have a rescue or other meds you take for migraines as well.

It was very expensive, but didn’t work at all for me. No bad side effects and the injections were not painful. If you can afford it, try it. I have had chronic daily migraines for a decade now. Nothing helps.

I’ve had 3 rounds of Botox. It hasn’t reduced my migraine days but I get fewer debilitating days a month. I would try it!

I started Botox in August and I'm noticing that my pain severity has decreased and my migraine days went from 25 to 20.

I started botox in 2012 and I have gone from 25 headache days a month to about 14 days a month. But it has taken 6 years to get that way in March.

I tried it three times, as recommended by my Neurologist. It didn’t work for me-I experienced low grade headaches almost daily, and it didn’t cut down on my monthly migraine days. That being said, I wouldn’t discourage anyone else from seriously considering it, given that it has helped some people. I don’t regret trying it even though it was a miserable experience for me-just to check that one off the list instead of wondering if it could have helped me.

✋ I have and honestly if your migraines are bad enough that doc recommended then give it a go every person reacts differently to different meds
