I’ve had three operations on my left superior semicircular canal. The first two operations were botched so I switched doctors. The third operation completely removed my semicircular canal because it had been destroyed by the previous operation. I have been left with dizziness and chronic imbalance. Also hissing in my left ear. I know this started because I was born with a thin or absent bone over my semicircular canals. But the first doctor had no idea what she was doing. I’ve tried vestibular rehab with no success. All of this took place at two of the best hospitals in the area, University Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic. I’m searching for a new doctor who knows what he is doing.

This is scary, I have had ringing for years, it started suddenly and I've seen several ENTs over the years all telling me to get hearing aids. I love the hearing aids, but didn't stop the ringing. Finally got a CT scan that showed Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome. Now I have an appointment with a specialist. What questions should I be asking? How can I avoid the problems you've had?

I have no idea how to help but I am SO sorry, some doctors should not have the qualifications that they do and I wish you luck finding a solution!
