Bipolar or Misdiagnosed ADHD?

Anyone else with Bipolar have manic episodes that present as almost every single symptom of ADHD? I’m considering having an evaluation done to see if I have ADHD and i’m also wondering if my bipolar is misdiagnosed ADHD.

I have both and it is incredibly common to co occur! The two work very differently but do have those common traits. I also found that sometimes my mania presents very differently from other times depending if it triggers huperfocusing or not. If you medicate at all it is worth noting stimulants do not mix well with bipolar and it can be on a spectrum. I say everyone who goes into treatment for one NEEDS to be evaluated for the other due to how tricky medicating can be.

So yes, and I've actually taken stimulants to attempt to fix it and it makes it all worse. I do have autism though

i got tested for adhd when they gave me my bipolar diagnosis. i dont think it was a true measure as i was in a controlled environment and really focusing on “doing well on the test” i would definitely get tested if you believe that you might have been misdiagnosed. i have a lot of adhd/autism characteristics but they said it was just a combination of all of my diagnoses

bipolar and adhd can often be diagnosed at the same time! it's actually pretty common to have both, similar to how if you have adhd you're more likely to have autism. I have all three myself!
