Hi everyone, I've been diagnosed with bipolar since I was 18 but I've had symptoms as far back as my childhood. I feel like my forgetfulness is one of those symptoms. I've always had memory problems when it came to names, places and errands or activities like shopping lists or losing my bag and keys... alot. Does anyone else relate to this? It's caused me to forget my meds, miss appointments and be chronically late for most of my life until recently. I also do some airheaded stuff like putting the wrong key in my front door and it got stuck and broke the lock. Anyone else relate?

I can 100% relate. My memory is hot trash when it comes to names, places, titles, and the like. I remember my meds bc I track them in my journal. I have been officially diagnosed for just a few months now, but have had symptoms since early childhood (I'd say around seven years old). I can relate so deeply, we can chat if you'd like to share some stories or just have some support. 🤗

I smoke Marijuana and lots of people blame that for my memory issues, but I've had these issues since I was a kid, long before I started smoking. I just want people to accept my memory issues for what they are, a symptom of my bipolar disorder and be more accepting and understanding. Wishful thinking.

Yes, I have had a horrible memory for years, I got my first psychotic symptoms at 12. It comes up every day in my life that I have a horrible memory, I have to tell people that all the time. It sucks. It could be because of a few different things but I hate it.

Yes I relate so much! I have a constant reminder on my phone to take my pills and I STILL forget. 🤦‍♀️

@poodlelover28 I have 2 morning reminders and 3 evening reminders, but if I'm not right by my pills I still forget sometimes too!

I can definitely relate. I've started writing everything I need to remember down. It's not as much as you think, but that's cuss I've decided not a lot is that important to me. & I also use my calendar app to religiously, if there's anything I have to do it goes in right then. It's definitely not easy but it helps. It the only reason I know anyone birthday.

@RR thnx for the suggestions. I do have a pill keeper now and a bunch of reminder alarms on my phone so I don't forget... but sometimes, I still forget☺. I do need to take some fish oil though.

@klazikel i mean i was diagnosed at 14 so i guess maybe because you were unmedicated for so long you are forgetting because it takes awhile to form a habit… but yes its easy 🙌
