I struggle with this as well. I am on lamotrigine and seroquel with klonopin for severe moments. I don't have much to say other than I have been on lithium, lamotrigine, klonopin, trazodone, celexa, latuda, and a few others in the past 8 months and it is so hard to find the right thing. We can do the hard stuff, it's just hard.

Hi! i definitely believe in the medical model of BP and think that a combo of therapy and medication is needed 😊 i am on a low dose of a mood stabilizer (lamictal/lamotrigine), an anxiolytic for anxiety (xanax/alprazolam) and an antidepressant (Trintellix). It did take quite a while to find the combo and dosages that worked for me. Even with this i still experience symptoms, but i think that’s where good therapy can help with learning tools to cope. Unfortunately therapy can be hard to access 💚💚💚 Hope that helps!

@shadowlady — what meds mess with your hair? I ask bc that’s an issue with me (hair loss, though that can be my age). I’m on many med. lamotrogine is a good mood stabilizer. …though I have found it’s had a negative impact on my cognition. But apparently it’s saving me. I’m on gabapentin too — also mood stabilizer. Other things as well but don’t want to overwhelm anybody with a list. Ask yr dr about the two I mentioned; research it. The other drugs I take address the depression and sometimes anxiety.

So I am currently on Vraylar but I know Lamictal is a pretty good one. For sleep I used trazodone. If the medications simply don’t work don’t be afraid to talk to your doctor about side effects or if it’s simply not working. They need to respect your wishes. For example for me, I specifically told my doctor I don’t want anything messing with my weight or my hair so it ruled out alot of meds. If you feel the need to get back on meds and this doctor isn’t helping you, you do have the right to find another one.
