Dealing with Bipolar Diagnosis in High School

Did anyone else get diagnosed with bipolar in high school? I did, people were incredibly mean to me about it and it still effects me at 28. If so, how do you deal?

I was diagnosed late into high school and struggled a lot, I didn’t really reveal to anyone what I was dealing with though I more so just gradually retracted more socially and it was quite lonely. About midway/late into college I feel as though medication helped me become a more functioning person and I didn’t feel as though bipolar was my defining characteristic anymore. But when things do get difficult, I find that I simply don’t talk to anyone about it and just disappear for a while. That’s not necessarily the best way to cope, I just sometimes feel really embarrassed to have an episode/be struggling when I’ve been relatively stable for so long. (Still trying to work on that, being kind to yourself takes work) Personally, having one or two people that you can really confide in and know will support you has helped a lot. They might not know exactly what you’re going though, but it’s helped me at least to feel I don’t have to hide my struggle in silence
