Struggling with Bipolar and BPD at 18

I don't know how to handle having both Bipolar and BPD, I'm only 18. The antipsychotic is helping a lot and has for a while, but being trans also makes it a lot worse

omfg I'm so sorry :( Some therapists are horrible- LIKE THAT ONE! Finding a good one can take a couple of tries but it's worth it. Rn I'm in a clinic of residents, so I work with 3 of them for a year then they move on from DBT and I get a set of new ones. Every therapist I've seen has been super helpful and I'm paying $10 a week with no insurance because they're kind of new. The guy I'm working with rn is amazing even though technically he's still a resident. And all of the doctors I've worked with are better than the 55+yo I've seen because they're all millenials and understand LGBTQ+ better. IDK if you can get access to a clinic like this but the one I go to is in Central IL if you're anywhere close.

I totally relate to this. I recently found out I have both and it seems overwhelming. I was recently told they might be able to manage my rapid cycling better.

Learning how to cope in a healthy way is so hard. Learning to stop, think, and breath before major anger +/ anxiety attacks is ridiculous. My medicine has helped me with the diagnoses but I still struggle a lot (especially with the depression lows rn and dealing with 50+ family members since I changed my name) Have you tried DBT therapy? It's helped me more than I realize.

I did have a few sessions of dbt, but my family couldnt afford it after that. and because my therapist was calling me my chosen name, they said she was "affirming my delusions"

I've never related to something as much as this!!! I was diagnosed with BPD and Bipolar at 18 and I came out as nonbinary two months ago (at 23) but truly I think I'm a male (Im AFAB). It's so confusing and hard to deal with, especially the homophobia in my family. It's hard but we will move through this.

dude i totally get you, i live in a wildly transphobic household and it sucks. im not having episodes running into the middle of the highway or punching holes into walls anymore, but ive just internalized it into really really bad depression
