I believe cinnamon is a common unknown allergy. It hides in bbq sauces, spices, desserts, teas, applewood flavoring, liquors, many things.

If it is causing you problems, you may have to stay off completely for months or a year before you see complete relief. Possible symptoms from my study of 'skin issues with unknown cause' range from chronic acne, dandruff, eczema, psoriasis, and endometriosis (your partner will need to commit to excluding cinnamon from their diet).
