Balancing BPD in Romantic Relationships

Those with BPD in romantic relationships, how do you balance? I’ve been single for five years prior to this relationship and I often feel like I’m always walking on eggshells to make sure I’m not being too much…

Unfortunately my husband and I have been living seperated for a couple months now because my BPD got so bad and out of control. It was controlling me and it made me see a totally false reality to what was really happening and I wasn't seeing his perspective. I hit my rock bottom and depression was so bad I wanted to kill myself for messing up my marriage. I got into therapy and have been working on DBT skills and just retraining my mind to see the positive things and be positive and less impatient. I've made huge strides. My husband does plan to come back home (not sure when, but on his own time) but he needed that space and time to heal from the hell I put him through for months and months. He has to see my progress and growth so that he can be sure when he comes back home he will not go through what he did before. So my suggestion to you is to focus on you and work on DBT skills. Retraining your way of thinking so that it's easier to communicate with your partner. Be open minded and don't always take the negative face value.

Communication is key. Understanding. Learning mental illnesses and what you can do to help your partner, or learn to cope with their mental illness.
