Overcoming Back to School Anxiety: My Struggle with ADHD, Depression and PTSD

School starts soon and I’m genuinely scared. It’s one of my triggers since the pandemic when I faced my own thoughts and had mental crises where my grades would go down and I’d get depressed around the start of winter. And because when I was a small child I was abused and would keep up a face thinking it was normal to be abused, assuming my classmates were too. For the past three years there was always a point where my grades would go down and I’d be at my lowest. This year I was finally diagnosed with my adhd, depression and ptsd, plus meds and therapy. I haven’t even done my summer homework yet because I’ve been trying to pay more attention to myself instead. School starts on aug 31, in almost less than a week.. I’m scared that I won’t be able to be respected by my teachers and peers because I haven’t done my summer hw, and I don’t want the past three years repeating again. This year I’ll have a 504 plan at least. What can I do right now? I don’t want to get into a panicked state and be depressed when I make mistakes and get into a hole thinking about the work and the possible repeating patterns.

if you have a 504 plan, it should give you some sort of extra time on your homework..? especially if you just recently got diagnosed and have all of these things happening before the new school year. Maybe try talking with your counselor or who you planned your 504 first, instead of teachers? In my experience, I did the other way around and it was not the best option. I 100% feel you on the whole situation, if you need to talk to someone, feel free to dm me. I hope this kinda helped ♡
