@NanN of course every medication comes with risks but if i was not on any on dialysis i would have been way more sick than i was. they helped my control phosphorus, help keep my potassium and magnesium up, help my pth decrease and not throw up every time i was on the machine. more times than not they’re there to help you!

even if you are placed on medications it’s not the worst thing. medications are there to help you!

@DaniBear ~ I was put on Azathioprine, and within a week I was nearly dead because that medication made my body stop producing red blood cells. I had to relieve 10 units of packed red blood cells, and my CBC didn't return to normal for a year. Forgive me if I'm apprehensive to try others.

Hi!! I too have CKD. Diet is the most important thing you can do for yourself. Choose foods that are LOW in sodium, potassium, sugar (that's a major one for inflammation), and calcium. There are cook books especially for people with CKD. You don't want to have too much protein. I have just overhauled my diet again trying to cut out dairy/milk solids. I was pretty surprised. My lowest GFR was 28. And now it's 43. I haven't had a GFR that high in over 10 years. Also, you'll want to be on a bit of a fluid restriction. The recommended is no more than 2 liters/day. I'm still working on that. If you'd like any other info, message me, and I'll see what I can do!
