How to Avoid Getting Sick and Feel Better Quickly

Every time I get a cold it goes straight to pneumonia. Any tips on how to either avoid getting sick or when I inevitably do how to feel better in a normal amount of time?

seriously though elderberry is an EXCELLENT anti-viral that's been used for a very long time. if you can find someone who sells elderberry syrup (try looking at local farmer's markets) i highly recommend

Guafenisin!!!!! It clears out the lungs. I usually take mucinex DM it has saved my life (I also have damaged lungs from severe pneumonia that I ended up getting hospitalized for) Elderberry works wonders to keep symptoms down, I do breathing treatments ever 4 hours when im sick. And vitamin C/immune supplements!

Also when sick, avoid dairy. It will make you extra mucusy. When I was younger my mom would have to pat my back (kinda hard) to break up the mucus in my lungs I still do that today when I'm sick. It helps everything move and not get stuck

My granddaughter was like this. Every time she got a sinus cold, she ended up with either pneumonia or a double bronchitis (both viral and bacterial). The combination that has worked to keep her from getting the lung infection is: Elderberry, Singulair, Claritin and Guaifenesin, paired with breathing treatments every 4 hours. Right before bed, I would give her benedryl and vicks rub if needed for extra stuffiness/trouble breathing relief. I also set up a warm mist humidifier with menthol liquid. Ever since I started these things, she does not end up with lung infections.

It’s hard for me to take musinex because I can’t swallow pills so my only other option of that is the liquid form and I just can’t do it!! reading these comments has helped a bit, I just worry for the liquid forms of the medication and if I’ll be able to handle it

I’ve found some packets of mini musinex ‘beads’ that are much smaller and easier to swallow with water!

I have the same issue. Used to get pneumonia AT LEAST once a year. Start taking supplements, especially before cold season. Vitamin C( for immune function) Vitamin B6 and B12(for metabolism) magnesium and zinc at night will help you sleep better at night which will help your body fight off intruders. Echinacea will also help. Ginger, especially fresh, raw ginger does wonders for the immune system (I like to put it in smoothies) If you're not sensitive to caffeine look up EGCG or drink a lot of green tea. Much of having a healthy immune comes from having a healthy metabolic rate. Best of luck!

Note: I now get pneumonia maybe once every two or three years instead of every year or multiple times a year. Most remedies do not FIX the problem, only reduce the chances and severity of the problem.

Get the Pneumovax 23 vaccine! It is approved for anyone over 18 with asthma. I used to be the same way, up to 5 or 6 bouts of antibiotics and prednisone a year. Got the shot 7 years ago, I have been on antibiotics and prednisone a total of 3 times since then. I can kick colds by myself like normal ppl
