Hello, I’m 21 year old autistic. I was only diagnosed a year ago. Recently I’ve been feeling a lot of self hatred and anger towards myself for the way I am. It’s hard to see the positives of Autism when the things I struggle with affect me so much. I would never feel judgement or anger towards someone else with Autism so I don’t know why I feel like this. Does anyone have moments like this?

I was told originally not to google autism as a teen because of terrible stories a, so I added things like benefits and ... But i still got srlf conscious and eventually felt the blame. Some books I have read that have been helpful are unmasking autism by Devon Price and Divergent Mind by Jenara Nerenberg (though more specifically to female with that last one, but can go for both.

I felt this way because I was taught autism was a bad thing, maybe something that could help is looking at all the amazing things that autistic minds created that couldn’t have been made by anyone else. We are different but you’ve always been this way and you’ll come out on the other side better than before I promise.

I feel the same way. Even before I was diagnosed I felt alien and upset that I couldn't understand or socially interact with people.

Yes, many people with autism experience moments of self-hatred and anger towards themselves. It's common to struggle with accepting the diagnosis and coming to terms with it. Some individuals have shared similar experiences of feeling upset about their autism and wishing they could think "normally." It's important to remember that you're not alone in these feelings, and reaching out to others who share your experiences can be helpful.
