What was your autism neuropsych appointment like?
——————————————
19F. I’m being evaluated for ASD in May. I’ve done a lot of research on ASD including the evaluation process. Everyone I know for ADHD says it’s basically like playing a bunch of games, but for autism I’ve heard a mixed bag.

I’ve heard some people say the doctor tried to break the down enough to see pasted the mask. Or tried to make them uncomfortable to show their ND traits. Some said it was a group of odd activities that even with all their knowledge of ASD going in they had no idea what the test was for.

I have looked into the doctor doing my evaluation and if I were to guess I would say she is likely not going to try and break me. However, I am curious what your guy’s appointments were like.

(20F) Got my diagnosis recently. I did some questionnaires and talked about my experience with the doctor doing my evaluation. Beforehand I prepared a 6-7 page list detailing everything I experience as justification for a diagnosis. I wish you luck and I hope that your doctor listens

They might have you do additional tests to rule out intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities as well

Thanks that helps a lot! I think I have a special interest on neurodivergency rn….so far my doc is 35 pages and I have plans to add more things…I actually feel kinda bad about it and might not even show them.

Maybe you could email them before and ask if they would like to see it during or before the appointment?

Yeah that’s the plan I’m leaning towards. I think I’ll email them like a week out. I’m on spring break rn so I’m going through all my old diary entries and home videos to see if I find anything. I think at least that portion would be of interest. Idk I’m a little obsessed so it all feels important and I have very bad prospective 😂😂😂 (hense why it’s 35 pages.). Having someone else come up with the same idea helps give me confidence to actually email them.
