Why is it so hard to get diagnosed with autism?

Why does it take so long and so rigorous to get diagnosed with autism? I just want to know at this point and im tired of “tests”

For some its waiting lists being oversubscribed,,, and also autism as it is recognised officially tends to focus on presentation in white folks, males, and those who can't mask (including those who aren't speech- or motor-privileged) so any other autistic folks can find it much harder to find someone who recognises them for who + what they are 😔

You could try asking for a refferel to nerosphycology to be tested. For me it was about 6 hours of testing in one day with plenty of breaks and I was thankfully able to get my results the next day

I don’t know. I just talked to my therapist about it and he confirmed it

It seems to be a ridiculous amount of length I'm still on the waiting list to be tested years later and my oldest child is only had her questionnaire after the wait list done and heard nothing back yet 😩
