i havent yet been diagnosed with autism but i have a very high feeling i do. one of my many questions is, is it normal for those with autism to have difficulty communicating their words properly? i often have a problem with expressing how i feel about things because i can never find the right words so i just simplify it by saying “i dont know” or “nevermind” especially when i feel strongly about soemthing. is that something or is it just a generic problem?

I am diagnosed autistic and I have that problem too. I always have a hard time finding my words in general, either it’s explaining or communicating at all. I have to pause most times to find the words I need or had but simply disappeared.

This is very common and can be a struggle to just formulate and get the words out or can be more related to feelings and not identifying them properly with words - that is called alexithymia

ALL the time. i know exactly what i'm feeling and how i'm feeling oftentimes, but the combo of not being able to word it and stuttering profusely when i'm emotional makes it tough to convey. you're not alone in this!
