How to Get an ASD Diagnosis as an Adult Female?

how does an adult female go about finding a diagnosis? I've taken multiple online AQ tests that all indicate a strong likelihood of having ASD. looking back on my life, it would explain so much from my social ineptitude to my difficulties maintaining relationships and my current struggles in my romantic relationship. also, what do I do after I've been diagnosed? what resources are available for adults? I feel very lost.

Find a psychiatrist willing to diagnose adults and women, who is up to date. You can email their offices these questions to see if you’d like to schedule an appointment. Usually it takes a while to get an appointment and be screened. I made a spreadsheet of my symptoms with personal examples of them and prepared stories from my childhood of symptoms as well. I also emphasised how hard and lonely it had been and is so they would take me seriously. After diagnosis, give yourself permission to be who you are. Research autism and find those on social media who make you feel less alone. There are specific autistic therapies, charities, support groups, and accommodations that can be made with diagnosis. However, self diagnosis is perfectly valid too! The process is very overwhelming and hard especially if you really do have ASD. If this is something that you really want to pursue, I believe in you! Giving you much strength and love ❤️
