AS and Hand Pain: Does Anyone Else Experience This?

Yes, lots of hand pain. Sausage fingers is very common. Also can affect joints in hands as well. I have both. AS can affect tendons and ligaments as well as joints. Enthesitis is common, as well as costochondritis. I’m starting to get joint deformities in my hands. This is usually referred to peripheral AS. There is a lot of info on the spondylitis association of America website. They also have a list of doctors that specialize, or are at least aware that AS is not just “bamboo spine” and is a systemic auto inflammatory disease. I joined a lot of AS groups on line and it helped me tremendously. There’s a lot of weird and painful issues with AS and it is still widely misunderstood, even by many, maybe even most rheumatologists.
