Anxious anticipation is taking over my life

Whenever something serious is about to happen or is planned ahead, like a talk with my partners, my brain can't focus on virtually anything else until the serious thing happens... it's quite exhausting and annoying. :< Distractions only work so well due to disassociating and my brain wandering...

my partner struggles with this as well and something that I can do to help him with his anxiety about the lack of control is telling him that either its not serious or the basic topic of what will be discussed, or it IS serious, but here's the topic and you can think on that instead of the possible outcomes of the situation. I would definitely tell people that these things give you anxiety and just to give give a basic sense of what is going to happen.

Would writing help? Sometimes when I have a million things swirling in my head I have to write them down to get them to quiet down. My therapist told me your brain runs on a loop and finding something to break the anxiety cycle should help
