Is Therapy Really Helping Me?

i've been seeing a therapist for a few months now, almost half a year actually. i decided to try it out to see if it could maybe help with thinking through many of the struggles i've had with mental health. reflecting on it now, i'm not too sure if it's been as helpful as it should be. many of the things we talk about are things i know are already true or correct. i don't gain new perspectives on my way of approaching mental illness or new strategies i haven't tried yet for staying motivated and energized. what's been your experience with seeing counselors or therapists? did it help you?

“regular” therapy like cbt didnt help me personally. i was in emdr and play therapy and those actually improved my symptoms. i was in play therapy when i was 14 and emdr at 16. best of luck.
