Crowded places or situations where I *have* to talk to people, like making phone calls

Having upset stomach/gastrointestinal problems flare up increases my anxiety, and also my period šŸ™ƒ

For some reason I start crying and shaking whenever I'm in a hospital waiting room. Horror movies make me feel sick to my stomach especially if it has extreme graphic scenes. Other things that make my anxiety worse are attachment issues, paranoia, and overthinking. I also get anxious out of nowhere but I've been trying to control those.

I've had anxiety problems since I was six. Crowds cause me to get so stressed out that i start crying. Blood makes me pass out. Unknown/recent disorders that i have make my heart race like crazy.

I get a lot of mine for no reason whatsoever, but I know a couple of things for me is: money (Iā€™m doing alright, but Iā€™m always paranoid about it), large crowds, change, and anything they may potentially remind me of my traumas. A lot of times I donā€™t have a reason or Iā€™m at least unable to recognize what is triggering my anxiety or panic attacks.

Going out of my house, crowds of any size, wal mart, heavy traffic, bills, bankruptcy (currently in progress), money problems, worry about my kids, worry about my spouse's medical problems,.....

Agreed! It can seem random. Even the attacks from no where!

Any sort of life change- new job, new pet, new house- causes a lot of anxiety for me way before it happens, during the change, and for a bit after while I adjust. School is also a big trigger me, specifically grades

The only way I discovered my triggers was therapy

Loud noises and sometimes grocery shopping.

        589d

@mobychick Grocery shopping can be so hard on bad days, all the lights and sounds and people are so overwhelming

    • ceyana

mine is caused by me being upset or mad/having mood swings when my period about to come on/ out of no where

        @ceyana oh and school also

I am feeling the same way, or new added stressor. Even temporary ones.

I'm currently trying to get a better idea of this. How can you tell what triggers for sure does anyone know? I feel like my brain will get emotional at the most silly things so I can't call those times triggered. So far I think it's partly not being listened to and when people try to tell me what to do...

      • Louva_bug

        589d

@sabbymer keeping a journal of whatā€™s happening in your life and how you feel if a great way to start seeing patterns. Also your brain doesnā€™t really care if the triggering thing is ā€œsillyā€ or not, I would honestly argue most anxiety is caused by silly things. Thatā€™s still a valid trigger

@Louva_bug thank you. I have heard of that method but it's really hard to get consistent when I start writing. That was helpful though you can tell I only just started unpacking what my triggers could be

mine is triggered by trips/leaving the house/being stuck far from home, getting sick (espec nausea), overstimulation, loud noises, strangers, planes, ppl being somewhat not nice to me, among other things! I think the worst is anything that makes me feel trapped in one way or another

    • leggy

      591d

I try to keep myself busy for the same reasons haha but what triggers my anxiety is past traumatic events (no diagnosis of (C)PTSD), being alone without loved ones for too long (separation anxiety maybe?), and being in busy/loud places.

I feel like mine is now triggered by food...or whatever I'm eating. It's so weird, like a food allergy or something

      • Lynnq

        586d

@Alicia4475 I starred dealing with gastrointestinal issues last year. I learned anxiety and stomach issues can be linked! Anxiety can breed stomach problems and cice versa. Getting treatment for my problems has helped decrease my anxiety levels.

@Alicia4475 I am starting to think ice cream triggers anxiety and hyperactivity for me. I really like ice cream so this is hard for me to accept. I never had anxiety until I got long Covid. Now every day is a random minefield. Just the simple things can push me to far and amp me up. Iā€™ll get tremors, shakes, and nausea. Had to quit my job. Hopefully I will be able to find an ice cream that doesnā€™t trigger my anxiety. Like maybe try organic ice cream or something. I think I might be safe with gelato. Also certain food will spike my heart rate super high. It all seems very random and hard to pin down. I was in the store today and started to freak out because chicken now costs as much as beef. Not being able to work is causing me stress and now I am stressing about how I am going to get enough protein to be healthy.
