Concerns about Long-Term Use of Anxiety Medication

Hi- I'm a newbie here! I'm currently struggling with anxiety. I took sentraline 100mg everyday since March 2022. It helped me tremendously, but I'm so scared that taking this medication everyday is gonna be harmful for my body. Does anybody experience the same thing?

I get that same worry too. My internet search history is the typical “long term effect” research on meds. The best part I guess being that now when I search I don’t really spiral because the meds help 😂 but when I’m starting to feel anxious about being on medication I tell myself that taking this medication does not guarantee I will have any related health issue long term. Those serious issues that could possibly happen are rare. The condition I’m living with now is debilitating and guaranteed to occur and it is robbing me of my life in this moment. Without this medicine, I will not be able to function right now and by doing that I am just taking life away from myself. Thats more scary than something potentially happening someday. So it is better to know that a medicine is saving you now and helping you get through this time in your life rather than worrying of a potential problem that is likely to not occur anyway. Hope that made sense!

I was on Zoloft for 8 years and then celexa for 10. Not on anything now bc my body totally rejected going back on anything after my son was born.
