Seeking advice on anxiety medication

This is the first time I have done this and I wanted to get some options on whether this medicine would be better for anxiety (severe) or not.

Xanax honestly really helped me when I needed it. My anxiety started becoming more severe. I have a small dosage, but I take mine everyday. I will say that for a while, I was SUPER tired whenever I took mine. I started using it in high-school, so staying awake during classes (especially in the morning) for a while became difficult. My body is used to it now, so I don't get tired anymore, but that is a warning I thought I'd share. Despite the bumpy start for me though, it genuinely helped me so much. I was at a super rough point when I started it, and emotionally I've healed a lot since then. I certainly believe the Xanax helped me jump those hurtles.

I always have at least 2 Xanax with me but that's because I have a lower dose one. I find it very helpful when my anxiety is really bad and none of my coping mechanisms are working, but you do have to be careful. If you or your family have a history of addiction, you want to be careful with it (at least that's what my doctor told me when he asked if I had any addiction risk factors.) But at least for me, it has been very helpful. There are some days when my coping mechanisms aren't working and my anxiety just keeps getting worse and worse.

Hello there. For me, Xanax is very helpful. As you learn ways to cope with anxiety and discover it's source and how to overcome it, you will find that medicines like Xanax (which begins to work pretty quickly) act as a emotional/mental safety net of sorts. I take it only when I absolutely need it. I mostly try to work through my panic and anxiety without it to learn it better. However, I always keep a pill with me in case I need the extra help. You may even notice that knowing you have something that will calm your anxiety if it gets too tough, in and of itself, actually helps repel extreme anxiety. This has been the case for me, anyway.
