Dealing with Anxiety in Emergency Services

I just started a job in emergency services that is triggering my anxiety. I’ve had debilitating anxiety my entire life until about 8 years ago when I started taking lexapro in addition to the self-soothing practices I taught myself both instinctively and with therapy. I thought I had it all under control so didn’t think twice about taking this job. Now I frequently have panic attacks and feel a high level of anxiety constantly. Anyone deal with something similar? I feel this job is high-stress and high-stakes enough that even “normal” people with no anxiety disorders experience anxiety from it. But there also seem to be people I work with who are completely unfazed.

I worked in a vet hospital for 8 years and didn’t realize how much it affected my anxiety until I left

Hi! First of all I’m here to say it’s great you did all this work till now. I think that we could all be triggered by different things and if you feel like it’s too much for you, I would give it a try, maybe do more mindfulness or ventilation but if it doesn’t work out I would let go… your health is the top priority here!
