Struggling with severe anxiety during pregnancy

Hi, I’m new here I’m hoping this can be very helpful. I’m 22, pregnant and have struggled with severe anxiety my whole life. I go through phases of it being okay and bad. This is a really bad one and I’m starting to lose hope of seeing any light at the end of the tunnel. I feel as though I’ll always feel this way and I don’t want to live like that. Please comment or message me if you want to talk.

Personally, being pregnant with my mental health conditions (mainly, depression and anxiety) was a disaster. I had been on meds for 5 or 6 years before I got pregnant, and my psychiatrist told me that it would be more harmful to my son for me to go through withdrawals than for me to just stay on them. Plus, it would be unbearably bad depression and anxiety wise if I stopped the meds. So I stayed on them. But even with the meds, my anxiety got so severe that I was having multiple panic attacks every day and I couldn't sleep. But by about 4 or so months after my son was born things settled down to a normal level for me. I'm so sorry you're having to deal with that. It's no fun. But it will get better!! Once your hormones level out after birth they will go back to how you are used to. Hang in there until then! In the meantime, have you ever heard about dialectical behavioral therapy? I would highly recommend it. It's basically a system of coping techniques that are VERY effective. You should definitely ask your Dr about it and ask if there's a class you can attend, or resources available for you. You can also do your own research on it and find the techniques that way, but some of them do need some explanation, and you might have questions about them, so I would definitely recommend finding a class if at all possible.

The anxiety is probably way worse than normal because you're pregnant. Are you on any antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications? Most SSRIs should be safe to take during pregnancy, I would definitely ask your OB about it

I’m really hoping that is true! I’m 8 months and it’s got even worse lately and I’ve heard it can be bad during the third trimester. I had just started my journey with trying meds last year and I have yet to find one that worked for me so when I found out I was pregnant I stopped anything I was taking.
