I feel as though my anxiety and digestive issues go hand in hand. When I am nervous my stomach gets very gassy and I feel the need to poop a lot. My stomach will make noises or air will become trapped from holding it in and will make a loud noise that sounds like a fart. This gives me the most anxiety to begin with, but nothing I do helps. The anxiety causes it, which then causes my anxiety to increase. This bothered me a lot in college to the point where I would try to sit in the back farthest away possible from people just in case my stomach would make a noise. I have even skipped class or tests on many occasions from being anxious and self conscious about my digestive issues. Can anyone else relate?

Yes I swallow too much air when I feel anxiety & then you have all of that extra air in your stomach! It ends up making you feel more short of breath. Aerophagia. Crazy noises & spasms.

Yes! I even prep for scary social events by preemptively taking Pepto bismol and limiting my diet to safe foods even days in advance.

@SadWitch The pepto bismol is a great idea! Thank you for the advice, I will give it a try.
