first post on here ... we will see how this goes I guess... does anyone else with anxiety have trouble physically communicating with your partner? for example if my bf n I are in a disagreement or just having a heart to heart talk I find it difficult to actually speak words. it's like my verbal ability is gone. I can hear n feel what I want to say in my head but I physically can not make a sound and its very difficult to look him in the eye when this happens, I just end up staring at my hands until I can either force the words out or I just shut down.

Have you tried maybe writing out what you want to say to him in a letter and giving it to him so you can sit down and think about what you want to say to him. I've done this in my relationship and I feel like it really helps. šŸ–¤

the exact thing happens to me still and weā€™ve been together for over 2 years. i tell him to hold on and he waits for me until i can get enough composure to get some words out then he waits again and so on. i would say just take your time trying to relax and when you get worked up again just try again. they will understand and appreciate that you are trying to communicate in the best way you can

@chelsy one thing i do is breathe in for 5 seconds, breathe out for 5 seconds, breathe in for 6, out for 6, and so on until you canā€™t go any longer. i usually get to about 9 and then i am able to get a few sentences out before i have to start the process over

Absolutely, all the time, my partner is not understanding at all and thinks it's a manipulation technique on my part. He gets even more mad and makes it worse.

Yes I use to not be able to communicate at all. My husband has luckily been really great about it and works with me to help me communicate better. Sometimes during discussions I get overwhelmed and he will give me space to gather my thoughts and then come back and we will discuss things.
